I’ve been exploring how GIS technology has transformed disaster management and response strategies over the past couple of decades. For instance, during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, GIS was pivotal for real-time data mapping and resource allocation. It made me wonder how different our responses would be without these advancements — what are some key examples you all have come across?

It’s incredible to think about the role of GIS in real-time mapping during disasters. I was involved in a local response effort during a flood last year, and we relied heavily on GIS for identifying high-risk areas and allocating resources efficiently. It really shows how modern tools can save lives, but we still need better training for local responders. @GISExperts have great resources for that.
