Quick question: is anyone bringing the new nationwide NOAA HeatRisk into QGIS alongside EJScreen for equity targeting? We at our nonprofit merged level 4–5 forecasts with 80th+ percentile burden tracts and moved 12 pop-up cooling sites in South LA this summer, and I’d love to compare methods for tying real-time hazard layers to justice outcomes?
I’m pulling HeatRisk daily as a raster, running Zonal Statistics (max) over EJScreen tracts, and flagging any tract where the max is “level 4–5” with EJScreen ≥80; it turns the map into a smoke alarm. One tweak that helped: weight by daytime population (LEHD/LODES) so pop-ups don’t drift into low-use industrial pockets. Are you hitting an ArcGIS REST endpoint for HeatRisk or caching tiles locally for speed?
